Weird Vegan Video

146 Comments on Weird Vegan Video

A friend of mine sent a link to this video, which is supposed to (I think) promote veganism.  I say supposed to and (I think) because if I wanted to produce a video that made vegans look like idiots, this might be it.  My immediate reaction was along the lines of “If these people think this is an effective promo for veganism, their brains are seriously deficient in fatty acids.”

I mean, what’s the takeaway message here? That cows are perverted and creepy, so we shouldn’t drink their milk?

I ran into this video a few days ago and was unable to get through very much at all, I found it so profoundly disturbing. I also was left wondering if it was actually supposed to be a pro-Vegan video or a satire of some sort. I can’t find where it actually comes from but I do notice it has gone viral. Apparently creepy bestiality references are popular.

It is comforting to read all these comments and find out I’m far from alone on my reaction.

If it’s intended to be pro-vegan, it’s not helping the cause.

Disturbing!! That said, the so-called ‘plant based diet’ promoted by Vegans is nothing like the way of eating that my ancestors from central and northern Europe ate. A thousand years or so ago, many of them were still hunting wild game and gathering seasonal (not domesticated) plants. Others were living a pastoral life which involved consuming natural dairy. I love dairy foods! I celebrate my ancestral adaptation to this wonderful food source!

Soy milk? It’s made from the blood of millions of wild prairie and rainforest animals. In order to eat, something has to die. Where would Vegans be without their industrial agriculture death machine? Maybe they should take some time to look up Joel Salatin and Allan Savory.

I want the people who insist a plant-based diet is the holy grail to explain to me how my per-agricultural Irish ancestors lived on plants all year long.

My heart goes out to vegans. Apparently the lack of animal fat and protein also causes low creativity and the ability to self-censor. Another 2-minutes and 47-seconds of my life down the YouTube.

And you’ll never get them back.

If this thing goes on for nearly 3 minutes, it would take half an hour on my dial-up. Think I’ll skip it. Sounds like, more than anything, this video is proof positive that anyone can publish anything on the internet.

That said, even very bright people can be ignorant of some basic information. I once heard of a man who grew up in a city, and was a grad student before he knew where milk came from. Apparently, nobody told him and he had no reason to ask.

      Dial-up? That’s, like, soooooo 1999.

That’s right, Tom. But when there’s a problem (rare), I can call and talk to someone locally, and they speak not only English, but Mac. I’m not a computer whizz, so that’s very helpful for me. Plus, just think of all the time I save not looking at all those YouTube things at any speed. 🙂

Those having trouble playing the video : be thankful and move on.
    Trust me.

Wow, I was only able to watch half of that but wow, brain damage. WTF? Seriously what…the…f………????????

Also, your girls do a much better job explaining the benefits of low carb high fat eating than these vegan knobs do explaining the benefits (if there are any) of being a vegan.

My girls probably have a more developed sense of logic.

I would like to remind everyone that, as Tom has told us so many times, correlation does not necessarily mean causation. It’s possible that it’s not the lack of nutrients that causes vegans to make disturbing videos like this one. It could be that people who are crazy to start with may be more prone to becoming vegan.

We’ll need funding for a clinical study.

I’m reading a book called “The Happiness Hypothesis” by a psychologist who (thankfully) totally gets the correlation/causation thing. He’ll point out, for example, that people who do charity work are happier than people who don’t, but then caution the reader that it could simply be that happy people are more likely to be generous with their time, as opposed to charity work making them happier.

Ah, Jonathan Haidt the social intuitionist! I like him very much. Another book I just read and you might like: “The art of thinking clearly” by Dobelli, drawing on the work of Haidt and others. Nearly 100 short chapters on cognitive errors. From his much-debated chapter on why we shouldn’t read the news: “News is to the mind what sugar is to the body: appetizing, easy to digest – and highly destructive in the long run.” Notice he didn’t mention fat there. Perhaps because he’s friends with Taleb who is on the board of advisors of NuSi.

Formula for making a truly awful promotional video …

    1. Man in homemade animal costume leers at the camera and makes inane pseudo-sexual comment.
    2. Woman in requisite black t-shirt with (insert cause here) across the front peeks at script.
    3. Woman flatly says line while leaning in towards camera.
    4. Repeat.

I think Mr. Cow was really enjoying his role in this little skit. That last part – what a jolt. It was like answering the door and seeing the delivery guy naked.

On another note, we live in Clarksville and coincidentally we’re staying in Cool Springs right next to Baker’s Bridge that weekend. We have dinner reservations already but would love to meet you! Sure do envy you living where you do.

You’re right there in the neighborhood by Logan’s. Stop by if you can.

Cows are signing up to sue this moron for gross misrepresentation. I may sue because this may cause me to have nightmares.

Does this video prove that vegans are creepy?

    Those two are.

Just think, several decades ago many of the nation’s brightest scientists worked long hours to develop this thing called the ‘Internet’ so that we could watch that. Kind of depressing.

I was under the impression Al Gore created the whole thing. I’ll do some research.

PETA always has incredibly sexist videos. Guess it is a vegan thing. Women are objectified, which is fine because only animals count. At least this woman had her clothes on.

    Thank goodness for that.

Couldn’t watch the whole video. Milk comes from female cows, not fellatio of bulls. Back to elementary school for these two.

Perhaps the guy secretly wants to be a girl.

I’m “that someone” who saw this, immediately bought milk and drank 3 glassfuls. I think this means I should stay indoors on Vegan Pride Day. The ad would be more of what it is, if there was visible fecal matter on the cow. Keep it real!

After thinking hard about the title of your article, I realized I have never watched a vegan video that wasn’t weird. If you know of one, could you please provide a link?

I’ll let you know if I stumble across one.

the lesson i learned from the video is

“don’t drink milk from a perverse man who dresses as a cow.
    drink real cow milk”

You really should have posted a warning with this.

My three-year-old is now walking around the house saying, “WANNA SUCK?”

Lucky no grandparents, distinguished personages or clergy are here to witness this.

    Whoops. Sorry.
