Greetings. It’s Tom, back from the cruise. I’ll post a full report later in the week, but for now I want to thank The Older Brother for taking over the Fat Head chair while I was gone.
I also want us all to wish him a happy birthday. He turns 55 today, which means he qualifies for senior-citizen discounts at Denny’s and many other fine restaurants.
Happy Birthday, Bro. Now that you’ve got the diet thing figured out, I expect you to enjoy about 40-45 more of them.
If you enjoy my posts, please consider a small donation to the Fat Head Kids GoFundMe campaign.
Happy Birthday Older Brother !!!!
Happy birthday, Bro!
But, seriously, you didn’t have to wait all this time for a senior citizen discount. Just ask the vague question, “do you offer a Senior Citizen Discount”, and they’ll usually just give it to you. I’ve been getting them since I was 43.
Thanks. I don’ think my ego could take it. I figure it’s worth paying the extra 10% for them to pretend I don’t look that old. I still try to show waitstaff my ID when I order a martini.
Cheers
Happy birthday! I hear Denny’s has a “Build your own pancake” special going on. 😀
thanks Drew. So your advice is to eat a carb-bomb? Guess I really pissed you off with the economics stuff, huh? 😉

Happy birthday Mr Older (or is it Mr Brother ?)
Here’s a little gift for you : http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2012/05/this-is-not-a-joke-government-issues-study-of-a-study-about-studies/
Enjoy 🙂
Well now, I’m just “Older.” Thanks for the link. Government is truly the gift that just keeps on giving.
Cheers

Tom, welcome back. Older Brother was a very bad boy while you were away. He told us a lot of nightmarish bedtime stories about what big bad nasty governments can do to us! He scared us with tales about something called an economic meltdown, and about what “food” really costs and stuff like that! Kept some of us awake!!!!
It was pretty hairy there for a while (sorry Tom!!) and there were some shaky fingers on some delete buttons – but he didn’t frighten us all away! We’re soooooo glad you’re back. Can we just talk about the toxic stuff scientists and nutritionists are doing to us? What am I saying – like that’s going to help us sleep! (Happy B’Day OB and welcome back Tom!)
I’m glad he’s back, too.
Booo! Supply demand curve!!!
Sorry. Just had to take one last shot.
Thanks (to everybody) for keeping an eye on me while Tom was gone.

Happy birthday older brother; Hey Tom dd you hear about new HBO documentary on obesity I saw part of it let’s just say it was one of the biggest steaming piles of BS I ever saw.
I haven’t seen it, but I’ve heard it’s the same old, same old — we need to eat less fat, exercise more, blah-blah-blah.

Don’t look at me. Tom’s the one who brought up Denny’s.

Happy Birthday, Older Bro. Only 10 more years to Medicare. Only 16 more years until mandatory draw-down on your IRAs. Oh, and did I tell you? The person who coined the “Golden Years” idea was a 35-year-old working in a marketing department somewhere. . .
Thanks. Hopefully, the system will have completed its collapse before my 10 years are up.
That marketing genius ranks right up there with whoever cooked up the idea of calling giving money to someone when you die “life insurance!”
Cheers
Thanks for the tip on the HBO doc, I heard about it and it seemed like it ‘might’ have a different view point.. oh well.
Welcome back to land and Happy Bday Older Brother!!
Happy Birthday, Older Brother and thanks for filling in for Tom. You did a great job and I thought the economics lessons were interesting and worthwhile. You two brothers are both brilliant! One last thought…I’ve been looking into all this “prepper” business because of the coming economic collapse, and the ones who are into storing food in 5-gallon buckets are also into carbs, since pasta, etc. seems to store pretty well. Thank God I live in the country, so I’m going to start raising chickens and learn how to butcher our (mostly grass-fed) cows.
Thanks. I’ve noticed the same thing about the TEOTWAWKI diet (The End Of The World As We Know It). Meats can be safely canned with a pressure cooker, but that doesn’t seem to get much play with that crowd. Seems to me that if people would have to go more than a few months, all bets are going to be off, anyway. Also, in times of severe calorie deficit, the carbs don’t seem to have nearly the level of ill effect. Carbs, easier to store and transport and higher in calories, could confer a meaningful edge over the short term under those circumstances.
But if you’re into that level of preparation, how many carbs are in the pantry probably won’t be as important as how many cases of ammo are in your cellar. (I don’t want to know!)
Cheers
Happy birthday OLDer Brother!!! 55 is cool. 60 is cool. 65 is cool. That is, if you’ve been ignoring the pyramid or plate and eating a truly healthy diet.
Tom, as much as I miss you when you’re gone, I really enjoy Older Brother’s rantings . . . err, posts!
Thanks. I really haven’t had a birthday bother me yet. Watching grandkids be young is more fun than being young.
Rantings is more accurate, and therefore the better word!
Cheers

You’re half right about TEOTWAWKI preparedness. Stock up on ammo and whiskey. Trade for what you can, and take the rest.
The trick is to go easy enough on the whiskey so you can shoot straight.
Cheers
How long would cured biltong or jerkey or other cured, dried meats keep in a TEOTWAWKI kit? That’s where I’d be aiming if I didn’t have an abundance of livestock around me.
Happy Belated Birthday OB.
No idea on that one.

Happy Birthday, OB. Apparently, we share a birthday, except I just turned 52. I enjoyed your posts and check out your blog from time to time. So glad I found this. Fat Head is such an inspiration to me. I have two copies that I pass around the office and to anyone I can get to watch it.
Thanks. I have a couple of copies I try to keep in continuous circulation, also.
Cheers

Happy Belated Birthday, OB! As I mentioned in the past, my brother and I have life experiences that parallel you and Tom. I am the older brother and turned 56 on May 15. My younger brother put me on the road to understanding and appreciating liberty and I put him on the road to a healthy life through better diet.
