<\/p>\nSomeone sent me this infographic:<\/p>\n

Wow, that’s a lot of cranberry sauce.\u00a0 The bottom of the graphic encourages people to choose low-sugar and low-fat foods as part of their holiday fare.\u00a0 We’re spending Thanksgiving with my work buddy Jim Taylor’s family (who hosted The Greatest Thanksgiving Ever<\/a> last year, according to Alana), so I’ll eat whatever cranberry sauce they’re serving.\u00a0 I don’t go low-carb on once-per-year holidays.<\/p>\n The infographic reminded me of Chareva’s first attempt to make her own cranberry sauce.\u00a0 Sara was two years old, Alana was a baby.\u00a0 We invited some friends over for Thanksgiving dinner because their son and Sara enjoyed playing together in Mommy & Me classes.<\/p>\n Boy, did they ever enjoy playing together on Thanksgiving.<\/p>\n We had a small dining room table back in those days, so the kids ate first.\u00a0 A half-hour later, just the adult were sitting down to dinner, we noticed Sara and her playmate seemed unusually giggly.\u00a0 Sara has been a happy child since birth \u2013 in my mental images of her, she’s always smiling or laughing \u2013 but now she and the boy were chasing each other around, banging into furniture without caring, giggling all the while.\u00a0 Then they started hugging each other.\u00a0 We parents were amused.\u00a0 Awww, isn’t that cute?<\/em><\/p>\n I was slightly less amused after swallowing a few bites of Chareva’s cranberry sauce.<\/p>\n “Honey, does this cranberry sauce have vodka in it?”<\/p>\n “Yes, but the alcohol is supposed to cook away.”<\/p>\n “Uh-huh.\u00a0 Well, that may be, but I’m pretty sure I’m copping a bit of buzz from it.”<\/p>\n She took a few bites of the cranberry sauce.<\/p>\n “Oh, my god!”<\/p>\n “Yup.\u00a0 I think you got the kids a little drunk.\u00a0 We’d better keep an eye on them before they decide to drive to Las Vegas and get married.”<\/p>\n Sara fell asleep quite early that night.<\/p>\n To our non-American readers, Happy Thursday.\u00a0 To our American readers, Happy Thanksgiving.
