Taking A Grief Break

34 Comments on Taking A Grief Break

I haven’t been in a posting mood this week. On Sunday night, our dogs Coco and Misha managed to find yet another way through the backyard fence and went exploring. Misha came home alone around 5:00 AM. She’s come home alone before, but Coco always showed up shortly after.

By noon on Monday I suspected the worst, and I’m sorry to say the worst did happen. Chareva and Sara spent a chunk of the day driving around the area looking for Coco, and eventually found her by the side of the highway. At Alana’s insistence, we buried her on the property instead of having her cremated. Alana wants to plant a flower garden over the burial site.

That’s all for now. I’ll thank you for your condolences in advance.

That’s Coco on the left.

Oh, I’m so sorry to hear. I lost my Maggie last September, and it hurts like hell. Coco looks like a sweetheart.

Dogs are family members and the pain is real. I’m glad you are giving yourself time to grieve. So sorry for your loss.

It is terrible, Tom. It is hard to lose a pet… they are part of the family. Take your time to grieve.

Very sorry for your families loss Tom…we lost our best bud suddenly last Thursday. Frodo was a 8 year old Goldendoodle and everyone in the families best friend. The hardest thing is the quiet…and my wife waking up crying every day.

Very sorry, Tom. I’ve lost pets; it’s especially hard on the kids. Sometimes the best thing to do, although it might not seem so, is to get them a new pet right away.

I’m so sorry to hear about Coco. Take your time. It’s hard enough to see our dogs and cats grow old before our eyes, but I think it hurts way more when they are taken from us unexpectedly in the prime of life.

I’m so sorry for your family’s loss. No matter how they leave us, it’s always too soon and heartbreaking. A flower garden for Coco sounds like a beautiful idea.

    Oh that’s so sad!

I’ve been reading and rereading through your blog from the start and it seems like only yesterday that you got them.

Do take care of each other, and the remaining dog. I had a couple of neighbours who outlived their husbands by years, but their dogs only by weeks or months. We need this not to happen to you!
